Three games were running on Tuesday, keeping 10 players, one umpire and a guest entertained.
- A 15mm game of Impetus.
- Horror skirmish using “Fear and Faith” rules (Ganesha Games).
- Napoleonic board game of “Triumph and Glory”.
There is no link between the French bureau represented above, and the contemporary theatre group with with the same name. Did Carlos think I’d not notice?

Gosh darn, I thought you wouldn’t.
My first thought was that it was a dirty word. French is such a stylish language, I couldn’t tell.
The ancient pitted Kens Warring States Chinese against Ian’s Carthaginians using Basic Impetus. The Chinese had their 3 foot units in the centre flanked by two units of chariots on their left and a cavalry unit on their right. The Carthaginians had gauls and spearmen in the centre with elephants facing the chariots and horse facing the Chinese cavalry. Light horse and skirmishers on each flank hoped to envelop the chinese line as it advanced.
Alas for Carthage the Chinese received the Punic charges steadfastly then beat their opponents and resolutely pushing them back, unit by unit, eliminated them. The outflanking attacks never had the opportunity to intervene before their main line collapsed.
Ian has resolved never to agree to fight a chinese army again – ever!
